Job Title: Tax Staff Accountant

Summary: We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Staff Accountant to join our tax team. The Tax Staff Accountant will play a key role in assisting with tax compliance, preparation, and planning activities for our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, tax regulations, and excellent analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities.
  2. Conduct research on tax laws, regulations, and rulings to ensure compliance and identify tax-saving opportunities for clients.
  3. Prepare supporting documentation and workpapers for tax filings, including calculations, schedules, and reconciliations.
  4. Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information, address inquiries, and provide tax planning advice.
  5. Assist in responding to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities, as needed.
  6. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate and timely compliance.
  7. Collaborate with other members of the tax team to identify areas for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  8. Assist with tax planning initiatives, including estimated tax payments, projections, and strategic tax planning advice.
  9. Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management, which may include tax audits, due diligence, or other tax-related projects.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification or progress towards CPA preferred.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax compliance and preparation, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
  3. Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  4. Proficiency in tax software, such as Lacerte, ProSystem fx Tax, or similar platforms.
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research complex tax issues.
  6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  8. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Knowledge of tax planning strategies and techniques is a plus.
